Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Kansas City Royals

•March 24 – Patton, a South Central graduate, allowed a two-run home run to Nolan Arenado, but also struck out two in one inning of relief during an 8-2 spring training loss to the Colorado Rockies.
•March 21 –Patton struck out four in two innings of relief during a 7-3 spring training loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Dathan Berning • Soph. • Greenville • Baseball

•March 22 – Berning, a Vandalia graduate, had a pair of RBI for Greenville College in a 7-6 win at Spalding.
•March 21 – Berning had the best game of his college career, with a home run and a double during a 13-9 win against Illinois College. Berning was 2-for-5, with four RBI and two runs.

Trevor Montgomery • Soph. • Greenville • Baseball

•March 22 – Montgomery, a Vandalia graduate, went 1-for-1, with an RBI double, and he scored a run in a 7-6 win at Spalding.
 

Sierah Ruffner • Freshman • Greenville • Track

•March 21 – Ruffner, a Vandalia graduate, participated in the high jump at the Washington (Mo.) Mini Meet.
 

Abby Hill • Junior • Greenville • Track

•March 21 – Hill, a St. Elmo graduate, placed third in the hammer throw at the Washington (Mo.) Mini Meet, with a throw of 124 feet, 4 inches.

Becca Oldham • Freshman • Greenville • Softball

•March 22 – Oldham, a Mulberry Grove graduate, went 3-for-4, with a home run, 2 RBI and two runs in a 9-6 win at Spalding.
•March 22 – Oldham went 1-for-5, with two RBI and a run in a 13-7 win at Spalding.

Harley Tompkins • Soph. • Parkland • Softball

•March 23 – Tompkins, a Mulberry Grove graduate, went 1-2 in a 3-1 loss to John Wood Community College.
•March 23 – Tompkins went 2-for-3, with an RBI and a run during a 10-2 win against John Wood Community College.
•March 22 – Tompkins went 2-for-4, with three RBI and a run in a 19-3 win against Lewis & Clark Community College.
•March 22 –Tompkins went 1-for-2, with an RBI, in a 3-1 win against Lewis & Clark Community College.
•March 21 – Tompkins went 2-for-2, with two RBI and a run in a 10-2 win at Kankakee Community College.
•March 20 –Tompkins went 1-for-4, with an RBI, a run and a stolen base, in a 10-8 loss to Danville Area Community College.

Macie Cain • Freshman • Danville Area CC • Softball

•March 23 – Cain, a South Central graduate, went 2-for-3, with a double and two RBI in a 9-0 win against Morthland College.
•March 23 – Cain went 1-for-3, with a run, in an 8-0 win against Morthland College.
•March 22 – Cain went 2-for-4, with a double, an RBI and a run, in a 9-4 loss at Kaskaskia College.
•March 20 – Cain went 3-for-4, with a home run, three RBI and two runs, in a 12-0 win against Lincoln Trail College.
•March 20 – Cain went 3-for-3, with a double, three runs and an RBI, in a 6-0 win against Lincoln Trail College.
•March 19 – Cain went 2-for-5, with a double, two runs and an RBI, in a 14-12 loss at Lake Land Community College.
•March 19 – Cain went 1-for-3, with a run in a 14-3 loss at Lake Land Community College.

Kellie Crain • Freshman • Shawnee • Softball

•March 22 – Crain, a South Central graduate, drew three walks and scored a run in a 12-10 win at John A. Logan College.
•March 20 – Crain drew a walk in a 9-8 win against Southeastern Illinois College.

Cheyenne Rogier • Soph. • Lewis and Clark • Softball

•March 22 – Rogier, a Mulberry Grove graduate, went 1-for-2, with an RBI, in a 19-2 loss at Parkland College.
•March 22 – Rogier went 1-for-3, with a double and a run, in a 3-1 loss at Parkland College.
•March 19 – Rogier went 1-for-4, with a double, an RBI and a run, in a 11-4 loss to Kaskaskia College.
•March 19 – Rogier went 2-for-3, with a solo home run, in a 6-3 loss to Kaskaskia College.

•March 22 – Maxey, a St. Elmo graduate, went 1-for-4 in a 9-4 win against Olney Central Community College.
