Band Boosters accepting items for sale

The Vandalia Band Boosters are asking for items to be donated for a rummage sale it will hold on Saturday, April 20, at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
Items can be dropped off at the Moose Lodge from noon-7 p.m. on Thursday or from noon-5 p.m. on Friday.
The band is facing large budget cuts, and all proceeds from the sale will benefit the band. For more information, or for help with large items, contact Champion Trophies & T's at 283-7062 or NAPA Auto Parts at 283-3053.
The rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 20.

Evans Library offering 'Bee a Reader'

Evans Public Library in Vandalia is offering a Wee Read program called "Bee a Reader."
Through this program, which is open to children age 3 through kindergarten-age, children will receive a reading reward for every four books read, up to 16 books.
The program will continue through May 18.

Relay for Life vendors sought
Organizers of Fayette County Relay for Life are looking for vendors and businesses to set up booths for this year's relay, which will be held from noon-midnight on June 1 at the top of the Lincoln Loop Walking Trail in Rogier Park

Benefit for Daron Ridgon set for May 5

A benefit for Daron Rigdon of Brownstown will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at the Brownstown Fire Station.
Rigdon has a nerve disease and has been out of work since October.
The benefit will include a meal of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, roll and desserts. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
It will also include an auction. Auction and cash donations are being accepted.
Donations may be dropped off at Land of Lincoln Credit Union in Vandalia, or you may contact Lora Rigdon at 267-6214.
