National Road birthday party Thursday

The National Road Association of Illinois Interpretive Center in Vandalia will celebrate its sixth anniversary from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday.
The celebration will include an address by Linda Hanabarger on the history of the National Road and Vandalia at 11 a.m. and a talk by Kathy Schultz on the Vandalia Memories Facebook page at 3 p.m.

KC to hold charcoal drawing class

 The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a charcoal drawing class at the Vandalia Campus on Thursdays, Feb. 19-March 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The registration number for the class is COED-7003-VA01E.
 Students will learn how to use charcoals for rendering subjects such as still lifes and landscapes, and focus on color, harmony and composition.
A list of supplies will be furnished to students.
The cost is $30, but students over 60 may register at no cost.           
 Students may register through the Vandalia Campus by calling 283-1780 or the Department of Industrial and Continuing Education  at Kaskaskia College at 545-3255.  Space is limited.  All students must pre-register for this class.
 

'Powerful PowerPoint' class at KC

The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a “Powerful PowerPoint” class at the Vandalia Campus on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8 a.m.-noon.
The registration number for the class is LLI-7420-VA01W.
 Students will learn to create presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint. Learn the basics of creating slides, adding photos and graphics, and making presentations sing. This class requires some computer experience.
The course fee is $20, but students over 60 may register at no cost.            
 Students may register through the Vandalia Campus by calling 283-1780 or the Department of Industrial and Continuing Education at Kaskaskia College at 545-3255.  Space is limited. All students must pre-register for this class.
