Mulberry Grove Grocery Changing Hands

A retirement celebration, complete with cake and punch, was held Friday for Ernie and Ardith Carman, longtime owners of Carman’s Market in Mulberry Grove.

Though Ernie has been in the grocery business for 52 years, he has owned the Mulberry Grove store for the past 18 years. “In that time, you get to know everybody in town,” he said. “We’ve watched kids grow up and have kids of their own.” The new owners of the store are Larry and Lisa Rebbe of Brownstown, who formerly owned a grocery store in their hometown. Managing the day-to-day operation at the Mulberry Grove store will be the Rebbes’ son-in-law, Andrew Miller.
