-A A +A

The Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition will be returning to Vandalia on Saturday, April 27.

Hosted by the Family YMCA of Fayette County, the free event is part of a national competition held by the MLB and sponsored by Scott's.

The event will be held at the Vandalia high school baseball and softball fields, and is open to all youth ages 7-14.

The competition begins at 4 p.m.

Boys and girls are divided into age groups of 7 and 8, 9 and 10, 11 and 12, and 13 and 14.

Champions in each hitting, pitching and running, along with the all-around champion, for each age group will move on to the sectional competition.

Winners there advance to the team championships in professional baseball stadiums, and winners there advance to the national finals at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game at Citi Field, the  home of the New York Mets.

All participants must provide their birth certificate and have a parent or guardian available at registration to fill out a waiver.
