Sandy Michel, managing broker of Real Living Vandalia Real Estate, recently was inducted as the 2012-2013 chairman of the board of the Greater Gateway Association of Realtors.
She received special recognition during a luncheon at the Double Tree Hotel in Collinsville on Oct. 9.
Michel began her real estate career in 1989 as a sales associate, and she received her broker’s license in 1990.
She previously served on the board of governors for the Southwestern Illinois Regional Multiple Listing Service. She also is a past director of GGAR and has served on the association’s contracts committee.
In Vandalia, she serves on the Vandalia Economic Development Commission and is a member of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce. She is past president of the chamber, as well as the Family YMCA of Fayette County.
Michel said that community service is very important to her. She’s served on various boards and fundraising committees, and in 2001 was a recipient of the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious Abe Award for community service.
The Greater Gateway Association of Realtors serves nearly 1,000 realtor and affiliate members in Southwestern Illinois, including the counties of Bond, Calhoun, Fayette, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Monroe and Montgomery.
The association strives “to promote education, professionalism and ethical conduct in the real estate industry; to advocate for the protection of property rights; to assist in providing Americans with safe and affordable housing; and to further the interest of property ownership.”
