Medicine Shoppe expansion creates more room, services

An expansion project that nearly doubled the retail area of the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Vandalia is now complete.
Keri Henry, pharmacist and owner, said the project will allow the store to provide more services to its customers and to display more products.
“We wanted to let people know that we’ve expanded,” said Henry. “We now have more room and can offer more services. We’ve added more medications to our $4 prescription list; those generic medications are $4 for a one-month supply or $10 for a three-month supply. And we still offer free delivery.”
In addition to the pharmacy, the Medicine Shoppe now offers a wide range of over-the-counter medications, and products such as diabetic shoes, crutches and walkers, candles, Tervis tumblers and Leaning Tree cards.
Additionally, a private consultation room was created during the renovation. That room allows a private area for customers to discuss health issues with the staff, and also serves as a location for giving vaccinations.
As a result of the expansion, the store has hired two additional technicians – Jenny Rosenkoetter and Justin Clark. They join Buffy Chandler (lead technician, who has been with the store for 17 years) and Margie Sefton (over-the-counter medicine manager).
The Medicine Shoppe is located at 1442 N. Eighth St. The phone number is 283-2500, and the website is www.vandaliaspharmacy.com.
