Martin F. Koleno Sr., 91, Brownstown

Martin F. Koleno Sr., 91, of Brownstown, died at 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.

Lunch and visitation will be held from 12-1:15 p.m. and services at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at First Church of God in rural Vandalia, with the Revs. Tom Fedrigon and James Budlove officiating. According to Mr. Koleno’s wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois in Chicago for research. Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Koleno was born on July 12, 1921, in Chicago, the son of John and Mary Stopka Koleno. He married Dorothy Frizzell in 1943; she died in 2000. He married Edith (Richardson) Garrett on Sept. 25, 2005.

He is survived by his wife; children, Martin F. Koleno Jr. and his wife Jeannie, twin sons Thomas Koleno and his wife Janet, and Timothy Koleno and his wife Nancy, Anthony Koleno, Christopher Koleno and his wife Mary, all of Wisconsin; Daniel Koleno and his wife Laura, Patricia McGuire, Elizabeth and her husband Michael Jones, and Mary Anne and her husband Larry Miller, all of Illinois; Theresa and her husband Dr. Fleet Ryland of Florida; and Dorothy and her husband David Adenau of North Carolina; and stepchildren, Leilani Moore of Newburg, Ind., Malia and her husband Art Stephens of St. Elmo, Juanita Garrett of Barnhart, Mo., Roy Garrett and his wife Racie of Vandalia, Sara Konrad of Vandalia and Vicky Shouse of Brownstown..
