Lighthouse Pregnancy Center holds annual banquet

The Lighthouse Pregnancy Center' annual fundraising banquet was held March 24 at Mother of Dolors Parish Center in Vandalia.
The banquet was well attended, with more than 200 guests and supporters of the center.
The featured speaker was Kathy Sparks of Granite City. Sparks shared her testimony of having once worked as a medical assistant in an abortion clinic. She now serves as executive director of Mosaic Pregnancy & Health Centers in Granite City, Belleville and Edwardsville.
She is the mother of five and has been counseling women caught in crisis pregnancies for the past 26 years. Both she and her husband, Michael, are involved in this ministry.
Sparks has been featured in a two-part segment by Dr. James Dobson on “Focus on the Family,” as well as at banquets, workshops and college campuses.
Her testimony has appeared in Christian Herald Magazine,  and in several videos produced and distributed by the Pro-Life Action League of Chicago and Mission City Television of San Antonio, Texas.
Robert Weaver, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vandalia, was the emcee for the evening. Michelle Weaver sang a song, and Pat Farris, LPC director, reported on the activities of the past year and changes at the center.
At the end of the presentation, a challenge for support was presented, and the result brought $31,360  in pledges and donations for the work of the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center.
