Lady Vandals suffers overtime loss in tough season-opener

The Lady Vandals suffered a tough home-opener on Thursday, falling to Gillespie in overtime and possibly losing their point guard for Saturday’s game at Southwestern.

Junior Megan Godoyo was ejected from the game on a controversial flagrant foul call late in the fourth quarter, and Vandalia would miss 14 free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime period of a 62-60 loss in the South Central Conference opener.

When a player is ejected, they must sit out their team’s next game, if the ejection is promptly reported.
