Kistler-Holliday

Sue Ann Kistler and Jacob Louis Holliday, both of Vandalia were united in marriage in a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Vandalia American Legion Home, with the Rev. Carl Rhodes officiating.

The bride was given away by her parents, Kent and Melody Kistler of Brownstown, and Glenda and Wayne Arnold of Beecher City.
She wore a vintage-inspired, all-lace, trumpet-style gown with a sheer lace high neckline and cap sleeves that gently laid over a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was accented with a crystal and pearl sash while the back of the dress exposed a deep V and buttons that flowed into a chapel-length train. She wore a crystal headpiece accented with a birdcage veil.
Her bouquet was a mix of white roses, ranunculus, stock, lisianthus and stephanotis, with an antique pink butterfly broach in memory of her friend, Kassy Fulk.
The bride chose her sister, Keri Buscher of Vandalia as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sue’s sister-in-law, Keri Kistler of Vandalia, lifelong friend Keli Hipsher of Farina, lifelong friend Mallory Wise of Auburn and the groom’s eldest sister, Erika Holliday of Chatham.
The attendants each wore a different style dress in eggplant purple, all with an element of lace, made by the groom’s mother,a Ruth Holliday.
Their bouquets were made of roses, lisianthus, stock, carnations and hydrangeas in all shades of purple.
The couple chose the bride’s younger cousins, Tara Johnson and Tessa Philpot, both of St. Elmo, to serve as usherettes. They wore black lace knee-length dresses.
The groom, the son of Ruth Holliday and the late George “Pidge” Holliday, chose his brother Adam Holliday of St. Louis, Mo., as his best man. His groomsmen were his cousin Keith VanUytven of Vandalia, and lifelong friends Brandon Wells of Vandalia, Josh Elam of East Alton and Travis Williams of Edwardsville.
The groom and best man wore cufflinks in memory of their grandfathers, and the men all wore shirts in lavender with bow ties made from the same material as the bridesmaid dresses.
A reception and dinner were held following the ceremony at the Vandalia American Legion Home.
The couple honeymooned in Rivera Maya, Mexico.
