Kaskaskia College continues to offer classes at times and places that are convenient to the students of the district.
The Education Centers at Greenville, Nashville, Salem, Trenton and Vandalia have collaborated to offer the Small Business Accounting Certificate and the Certificate of Accounting that will start in the spring 2013semester.
A Small Business Accounting Certificate requires 22 credit hours and by continuing classes, students can obtain a Certificate of Accounting requiring 34 hours.
These courses will be offered on Friday evenings, from 5-9:50 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. -2:50 p.m.
There will be an online component in order for the certificates to be completed in two years.
Businesses and industries are looking for accountants, and those with training are sought most often. This is the reasoning behind the Weekend College Accounting Certificates.
The first semester schedule, starting Jan. 18, 2013, will consist of five classes. Accounting Principles (ACCT 100) and Business Math (BUSN 149) will be taught via interactive TV at each Education Center site.
The ACCT 100 and BUSN 149 classes will run in four-week intervals. Computer Applications and Business Systems Concepts (CITA 150) and SQL Query Language (CITP 125 is for Small Business Accounting Certificate) and/or Beginning Algebra (MATH 102 is for Certificate in Accounting) are online classes and will begin on Jan. 14 and will end May 17.
