KC Vandalia

Note that Kaskaskia College will continue to enforce social distancing and safety guidelines established by the Illinois Community College Board and the state’s Restore Illinois program through the fall semester.  This includes wearing a mask indoors, proper hand sanitizing, and visitors completing the college’s prescreening tool available on the KC Connect Mobile App or at www.kaskaskia.edu. These and other measures have been put into place to ensure the health and well being of everyone who visits the college.

“Chain and String Art” class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a “Chain and String Art” class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesdays, Oct. 6 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., and Oct. 13 from 5:30-8 p.m.
The registration number for the class COED-5109-VA01E.
 Students will learn how to create beautiful paintings with the pull chain from a ceiling fan and cotton yarn.
No painting experience is necessary.
The technique will include the use of pouring medium as a background.
Each student will make one-of-a-kind works of art, which can be picked up at a later date.
The cost is $30, and students will pay a $15 fee directly to the instructor for supplies.

“Countertop Cooking” class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a “Countertop Cooking” class at the Vandalia Campus on Monday and Thursday, Sept. 28 and Oct. 1, from 6-8:30 p.m.
The registration number is MENU-0111-VA01E.
Students will use their Instant Pot, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, and crockpot to make delicious meals.
They will create breakfast, soups, dinners and deserts to enjoy and share.
Discussion will include where to find hints, tips and ideas for using your countertop cooking devices.
The cost is $25, and students will be given a shopping list.

“Pour Painting” class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a “Pour Painting” class at the KC Vandalia Campus for students in grades 4-8 on Tuesdays, Sept. 15 and 29.
The Sept.15 session will be from 4-6 p.m. and the Sept.29 session will 4-5:30 p.m.

Students will learn to create beautiful painting without the use of a paintbrush. Students will learn a pour painting technique to create unique works of art.
The cost is $5.

Tye dying class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a “tye dying” class at the KC Vandalia Campus for students in grades 4-8 on Monday and Thursday, Sept. 14 and 17.
The Monday session will be from 4-6 p.m., and the Tuesday session will be 4-5 p.m.

Students will design T-shirts using a mixture of tye-dying techniques and effects as you learn this groovy technique and design original works of art for your family and friends.
Students are to bring two white T-shirts to class.
The cost is $5.
