Small engine repair class
The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer a small engine repair class to be held at the Okaw Area Vocational Center in Vandalia.
This class will be held Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m.-noon. The registration number for the class is COED 8015 VA01W.
This course will help prepare small engines for the warm weather. The class will teach basic maintenance, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, starting with preventive maintenance of a small engine and then going into troubleshooting and repairing.
Also covered will be areas on the engine, electrical system and fuel system.
Students are asked to bring their own engine to class. The cost for this course is $20; but students over 60 may register at no cost.

Acrylic painting
The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer an acrylic painting class at the Vandalia Campus on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., May 23-June 6.
The registration number for the class is COED 5442 VA01E.
This beginning studio painting class offers instruction as well as guidance in creating masterpieces in the company of others.
Students will participate in basic discussions of paint, brushes, canvas mediums and color principles. Students will learn different techniques in using acrylic paints.
Students will be given a supply list prior to the start of this class. The cost for this course is $30, but students over 60 may register at no cost.

‘Writing Your Life Story’ class
The Kaskaskia College Continuing/Community Education Department will offer a “Writing Your Life Story” class at the KC Vandalia Campus.
The class will be held on Saturdays, May 4, 11 and 18, from 10 a.m.-noon. The registration number for this class is LLI 7607 VA01W.
Students who enroll will be a part of Fayette County history. Class members will learn about writing their family histories for the Fayette County Genealogy Historical Society’s book. To be covered are types of family and individual histories, brainstorming ideas and editing written histories. Those histories completed by the June deadline are eligible for inclusion in the 2013 Fayette County history book.
The cost is $30 for students under 60; there is no fee for students over 60. To register, call the Vandalia Campus at 283-1780.

‘Workout with Lynn’ class
The Kaskaskia College Continuing/Community Education Department will offer a “Workout with Lynn” class at the Fayette County YMCA in Vandalia.
The class will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 1-June 26. The registration number for this class is COED 5411 VA01E.
Lynn Sefton is the instructor in an aerobic hour of a muscle confusion workout. It includes moves used in swimming, speed skating, kickboxing and tennis. Students will also do floor workouts to tone the abs and buns.
The cost is $80, but students over 60 can attend at no cost.
