Jr. wrestlers have strong showing in first events

Six members of the Vandalia Jr. Wrestling Club placed first in Sunday’s season-opening tournament in Bethalto.
In the 6 and under division, Max Philpot and Parker Ray earned individual championships; in the 7-8 division, Owen Miller and Jacob Sperandio placed first; in the 9-10 division, Gavin Mouser was a winner; and in the 11-12 division, Tanner Swain took first-place honors.

The Jr. Vandals will be at home this weekend for the annual Vandalia Tournament.

The event will be held on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.

Those participating but not placing were: Cazdyn Brown, Chase Cearlock, Dillon Hinton, Brody Matthews, Corbin Meyers, Damian Roedl, Easton Maroon, Zach Stephenson, Ethan Largent and Garret Stewart.


Also wrestling at Bethalto was Vandalia resident Anthony Enlow.

He won his weight class in the 11-12 division, going 3-0.
