James Lafayette Pryor was murdered in the early morning of Dec. 17, 1899, while he slept.
What made the killing of Pryor most unusual and mysterious was that sleeping beside him in the bed at the time of the incident were his wife, Lydia, and 11-year-old son, Grover.
