A Greenville attorney who wants to serve as Fayette Countys states attorney will appear on Novembers general election ballot as an independent candidate.
Dan Goggin announced his decision to run as an independent on Tuesday, a week after a local electoral board ruled that he could not appear on the ballot as a Republican candidate.
In announcing its decision, the electoral board ruled that nomination papers filed on Goggins behalf by the Fayette County Republican Central Committee contained technical errors.
