Girls win Taylorville Invite

Vandalia’s Sophia Richardson rolled her first career 700 series in leading the girls bowling team to the Taylorville Invitational title on Saturday.

The VCHS girls team had a total of 4,876 pins in six games to win the seven-team tournament at the Olde Bowl in Taylorville, topping the host team, Kewanee, Pana, Bloomington, Decatur MacArthur and Decatur Eisenhower.
In leading the VCHS team to the win, Richardson bowled 230, 255 and 225 in her first three games for a 710 series, which was the top series in the tournament.
Richardson also had the two highest single-game scores, 255 and 230, as well as the fourth-highest, 225. Teammate Emma Warner had the third-highest score, 227.
The Vandals scores for the tournament are as follows:
• Emma Warner – 114 157 227 – 498; and 202 146 153 – 501. Six-game total of 999.
• Kennedy Fiscus – 130 144 165 – 439; and 111 159 128 – 398. Six-game total of 837.
• Kayla Matthews – 143 167 122 – 432; and 141 93 153 – 387. Six-game total of 819.
• Catti Hoffman – 192 133 158 – 483; and 171 162 132 – 465. Six-game total of 948.
• Sophia Richardson – 230 255 225 – 710; and 202 209 152 – 563. Six-game total of 1,273.
The VCHS bowlers are coached by Debbie and Tony Richardson, and assistant coaches Jennifer Potts and Jared Lutz.
