Ingrid Andronis of First National Bank in Vandalia participated in a panel discussion at a recent conference sponsored by Computer Services Inc., a provider of technology solutions for financial institutions.

The panel, titled “Managing Debit Card Fraud – Best Practices,” was held during CSI’s annual customer conference in Chicago on Aug. 5-7. The event was attended by more than 1,000 people from about 350 of CSI’s customers. In her panel, Andronis and two other bankers discussed current challenges facing the industry and shared their strategies for fighting fraud losses within their card programs.
In her role as accounting officer for FNB, Andronis oversees the bookkeeping department and specializes in debit card disputes and fraud prevention.
“In the past few years, we have seen an alarming increase in debit card fraud across the nation,” she said. As a community bank, we feel very strongly about protecting our customers from possible fraud.”
First National Bank partners with CSI’s Card Sentry to offer protection from debit card losses. Debit card transactions are monitored around the clock, and suspicious activities can be blocked before a loss occurs.
“We were able to reduce debit card losses by 80 percent during the past few years,” Andronis said. “In addition to our program, we encourage our customers to report lost cards or unusual activity, as well as suspicious emails or phishing attempts.”
