Five county players named all-NTC

Five local players were recently awarded all-conference honors from the National Trail Conference in baseball.

South Central’s Dan Diss, Fischer Tharp and Noah Powless, and St. Elmo’s Connor Beasley were named all-conference, while South Central’s Kyle Bray was named honorable mention.

Dan Diss

The senior was South Central’s ace this season, striking out 51 batters en route to a 5-2 record. He also had a save and a 3.13 earned-run average.

Offensively, he hit .365, with 15 RBI. His on-base percentage was .469.

Kyle Bray

The junior was one of South Central’s most potent offensive players, hitting safely in 21 of 22 games this fall for an average of .449. He had one home run, 20 RBI, five doubles and a .525 on-base percentage.

From the mound, he was 4-1, with 35 strikeouts and a 4.58 ERA.

Noah Powless

The sophomore was South Central’s clean-up hitter, swatting six home runs this season. He batted .427 and drove home 29 runs.

From the mound, he was 4-0, with a save. He had 23 strikeouts and a 3.23 ERA.

Fischer Tharp

The undisputed leader for South Central, Tharp, a senior, hit .352 for the Cougars this fall, driving in eight runs.

His on-base percentage was .477.

Connor Beasley

St. Elmo’s senior leader, Beasley was 7-3, with one save, from the mound this season, winning several key games for the Eagles, while striking out 88 in 63 1/3 innings.

Offensively, he had three home runs and 14 RBI, while batting .366.
