Firefighters quickly extinguish blaze

Brownstown firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at the home of Anthony Lach mid-afternoon on Monday. Vandalia firefighters were called to the Lach home, located in the Brownstown Fire Protection District, south of the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and Ill. Route 185 and the 68-mile marker of Interstate 70. The VFD then had the Brownstown Fire Department dispatched. According to fire officials, Lach was soldering in the home when some insulation caught on fire.
