Final E911 landline testing to be done soon

-A A +A
By The Staff

Fayette County is moving closer to having Enhanced 911 phone service.
Kevin Jenne, Fayette County’s 911 coordinator, announced late last week that the final landline call-through testing will begin as early as next week.
Jenne said that Illinois law requires the Fayette County Emergency Telephone Systems Board to test landline phone numbers in each exchange randomly before going live with the enhanced system.
The testing is to check the accuracy of the addresses in the telephone base, and it will require cooperation from the public, he said.
