There were 492 deer killed in Fayette County during the second firearm season and 1,907 during the 2010 season, according to totals released by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
One hundred and fifty-one fewer deer were killed in the county in the two seasons, from Nov. 19-21 and Dec. 2-5, than were killed during last year’s deer season.
Statewide, 98,700 deer were killed, a decrease of 719. In the second season, 30,663 deer were killed, a decrease of 2,630 from last year.
