Evergreen Outreach Dec. 22, 1011

By Karen Redfern
Both sadness and joy marked Monday afternoon, when Phyllis Rames announced that one incredible lady by the name of Jeanne Witbracht had died during the weekend.
Steadfast, loyal and giving, Jeanne was a dedicated Evergreen Outreach volunteer who will no longer be in our midst. She will be missed.
The program opened with a welcoming, “How’s everyone today?” The room looked like Christmas. Tables were decorated with festive-looking Teddy bears, stuffed dolls and a variety of colorful stuffed animals. They were donated by Joyce Mueller.
The Rev. Jim Fackler gave the devotional. Then the program began with the Heartland Honeys, a dance team from Farina. They performed to the delight of the onlookers. Among the numbers they did were: “Merry Christmas to You All,” “Rockiest Christmas,” “Rock ‘n Roll Waltz,” “Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy” and “Winter Wonderland.” A huge applause followed.
The group consists of Ann Robinson, Janette Dewaller, Robin Ruthland and Gwendylen Ware (the leader). The dancers looked “spiffy” dressed in red sparkly vests, black skirts, black ties, and silver belts and shoes.
Gwen said: “No snow for Christmas, but let’s dance to ‘Christmas Cookies.’”
They all had smiles on their faces and sparkles in their eyes. They finished their performance with “Christmas Kitchen.”
“Ho, Ho, Ho,” shouted Santa as he thanked the dancers, as well as First National Bank, for providing calendars.
In the meantime, several people enjoyed playing Pinochle. At table one, the team of Beulah Brown and Jeanne Schlicht tied 1-1 with the team of Ruth Ann Scott and Peggy Lippold. At table two, the team of Shirley Locke and Wolf Schlicht won one game while Richard Kruenegel and John Hunsley won two.
Celebrating birthdays were: Tom Petry, Louis Ruth, Ernie Brown and Brenda Reese.
Next week, E.O. will meet at Fayette County Hospital's Long Term Care. The program will be the Pences and their four border collies.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
