Evelyn Haupt, 84, Vandalia

Evelyn Haupt, 84, of Vandalia, died at 7:49 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Carl Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Northside Christian Church in Vandalia.

Mrs. Haupt was born on Oct. 2, 1926, in rural Vandalia, the daughter of James Grover and Irene Fadeuilhe Kirkman. She married Clarence Carl Haupt on Jan. 8, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo.; he died on Oct. 16, 2002.

She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, and was a member of Northside Christian Church in Vandalia.

She is survived by sons, Gary Haupt and his wife Brenda of Mulberry Grove, and Kevin Haupt and his wife Julie of Fenton, Mo.; daughters, Marlene and her husband Terry Hopkins of Sherman, Janis Waters of Witt, Cheryl and her husband Carl Probst of Nokomis, Diane and her husband Charles Dugan of Vandalia, and Brenda Michel of Springfield; sister, Denise Zehner of Hillsboro, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Louis Kirkman; a son, Steven Haupt; a grandson, Jeff; and a granddaughter, Mindy.
