Eugenia M. Sprague Fisher, 87, Vandalia

Eugenia M. Sprague Fisher, 87, of Vandalia and formerly of Ramsey, died at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13,2009, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, with Dr. Ward Sussenbach officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Parkview Free Methodist Church in Vandalia.

Mrs. Fisher was born on March 5, 1922, in Fayette County, the daughter of Chester Eugene and Hallie Mae Lovelace Halford. She married Hans Emery Sprague on July 8, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; he died on Jan. 11, 1981. She married Charles Lee Fisher on June 17, 1984; he died on March 25, 1990.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Parkview Free Methodist Church in Vandalia.

She is survived by sons, Carl Sprague and his wife Gloria of Shobonier, and Randy Sprague and his wife Patty of Vandalia; daughter, Carol and her husband Robert Gander of Paoli, Ind.; sisters, Eithal Hoffman of Vandalia, Verneva Greenwalt Roberts of Vandalia, and Oneida and her husband Bill Moreland of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a brother; three sisters; and a daughter, Nancy, in 1946.
