Dry conditions continue

Dry conditions continued throughout the state last week. There were 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Statewide, precipitation averaged 0.28 inches, 0.51 inches below normal for the week ending Aug. 3.
Average temperature was 69.3 degrees, 4.9 degrees below normal.
Corn in the dough stage was rated at 55 percent, compared to the five-year average of 47 percent. Corn condition was rated at 81 percent good to excellent.
Soybeans blooming reached 91 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 84 percent. Soybeans setting pods reached 65 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 49 percent. Soybean condition was rated at 77 percent good to excellent.
Oats harvested reached 83 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 77 percent.
Pasture condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 11 percent excellent.
Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent very short, 23 percent short, 70 percent adequate and 4 percent surplus.

 Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 24 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus.
