For Brock Doehring, the 2008 football season ended far too early.
The Illinois College sophomore tight end, a Vandalia grad, tore ligaments in his elbow in IC's opener, a 38-20 loss to Millikin University. The grade-three tear effectively ended Doehring's season. The injury should allow him to redshirt and gain another year of eligibility, if cleared by the NCAA. The injury will require surgery.
"I knew that something was wrong immediately," said Doehring of the injury. "My arm got caught in the turf, and it was hit by a player from Millikin.
