Denny Scholarship Recipient

The Kaskaskia College Foundation has announced that Brett Ambuehl of Mulberry Grove, left, was recently named the recipient of the Frank M. Denny Memorial Scholarship.

Ambuehl is a 2011 graduate of Vandalia Community High School and is a freshman at KC majoring in electrical technology. He is the son of Randy and Denise Ambuehl. Denise Denny Corbell endowed the Frank M. Denny Scholarship Fund through the Kaskaskia College Foundation.  The funds will generate a scholarship award each year for a full-time Kaskaskia College student. Recipients should be residents of Fayette County and graduates or impending graduates of high schools within Fayette County. Frank Denny was Mrs. Corbell’s father, and was a well-known business and community leader in Vandalia. Denny owned and operated Denny’s Department Store, was president of many service and social clubs, and served on several bank boards. He also served on the Vandalia School Board and the Illinois Association of School Boards for many years. Shown with Ambuehl is Kellie Henegar, dean of Arts and Sciences for Kaskaskia College
