David Marty dies Saturday

The Ramsey man who served as the Fayette County treasurer for close to three decades died on Saturday.

Services will be held on Saturday morning for David C. Marty, who died at the age of 85 after a brief illness.
Marty first ran for the office of Fayette County treasurer in 1970, and was subsequently elected to six more four-year terms before retiring from the post in 1998.
During that tenure, he represented Fayette County and the Democratic Party at the state level, and he was invited to the White House several times for presidential inaugurations.
In the Ramsey area, Marty served as chief of the fire department, and was also active as an officer of the Lions Club, Jaycees and United Way. He was also an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
His obituary appears on page 3 of today’s issue.
