Before taking her seat as Vandalia's newest alderman, Lisa McNutt was somewhat familiar with how city government works.
She gained that knowledge not from being involved in government, but from hanging around her father.
McNutt, 36, is the daughter of Von Duggins, who resigned from the city council last month after about 20 years of service. Duggins moved out of the city.
The new Ward III aldermen said, "It (city government) is something that I've been around, because of my dad."
McNutt's interest in serving as an alderman is simple.
