Dakota Pipeline gives EMA $20,000
Dakota Access Pipeline, LLC announced last week plans to donate $20,000 to each Emergency Management Agency across Illinois in the counties through which the pipeline travels, totaling $240,000.
The first of two check presentations was held on Nov. 2 at the Lincoln Land Community College branch in Litchfield. Dakota Access presented $20,000 checks to Macoupin, Montgomery, Bond, Fayette and Marion counties’ Emergency Management Agencies.
Dakota Access will make similar donations to county emergency management agencies across its four-state route, totaling $1 million across 50 counties in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois.
“This gracious donation will be used to enhance our response systems. It will be used for training and equipment for our dive team, search and rescue team, and communication team, ” Kendra Craig, Fayette County EMA coordinator, said.
Dakota Access Pipeline traverses approximately 81 miles through Macoupin, Montgomery, Bond, Fayette and Marion counties in Illinois.
Separately, Dakota Access recently donated $15 million to the state of North Dakota to help offset the costs the state incurred for the response to the protests. The company is also donating to the Illinois 4-H Foundation and the Illinois FFA Foundation.
