Sprint cars to race in Brownstown
A special show on Friday at the Fayette County Speedway will feature the Monster Energy Sprint Car Series 410 winged sprints.
Additional classes running are: Crate Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Hornets and Team Cars.
The gates open at 5 p.m., the draw closes at 7 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and the racing immediately follows hot laps.
Admission rates are: pit pass – $30; grandstand: ages 13 and up – $15, ages 8-12 – $5 with paid adult, and ages 7 and under – free with paid adult.
There will also be sprint cars on display at Harmon's Market in Vandalia, on Friday from 2-4 p.m.

Kids fishing tournament coming soon
The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club is hosting its annual youth fishing tournament at Vandalia Lake on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m.-noon.
The tournament is free to children ages 5-15, and they will be fishing for bluegill and crappie.
Children will fish off the banks of the lake only, and any type of bait may be used.
Prizes will be awarded to those who catch the most fish.

Bond County's Challenger baseball league seeking players
Challenger Baseball, a league in Greenville for disabled players, is seeking players for this season.
Players ages 5 and older with a developmental disability may register for the league.
Age groups in the league are 5-10, 11-17 and 18-and-older, and the league begins play on August 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Jaycee Park on Dewey Street in Greenville.
Registration is $25, but exemptions can be made for those with financial difficulties.
All players bat each inning, and everyone plays the field. No score is keep and no outs are recorded.
The league is also seeking volunteers ages 10-20 to assist.
These individuals, called buddies, will assist players around the bases or in the field.

KC to hold summer volleyball camps
The Kaskaskia College volleyball program will host two volleyball vamps this summer in June for area youth. Both camps will be from June 21-22.
The first camp is held for students in grades K-5 and will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. The second camp is for students in grades 6–8 and will be held from 1-3 p.m.
The registration fee for each camp is $25 and includes a T-shirt).
The camp will be instructed by Blue Angels volleyball coach Kim Rahar and current KC volleyball players.
The camps will give individual instruction on setting, passing, serving and spiking, as well as development of offensive and defensive skills. Teams are welcome.
