Thursday, October 28
✔ The Fayette County Health Department, as part of the Paint the Town Pink community celebration promoting national breast cancer awareness, will provide lunch and educational materials from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lincoln Park in the 300 block of Gallatin Street in downtown Vandalia.
✔ TOPS IL 2490 will meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is from 9-9:30 a.m. For more information, contact Dovie Heaton-Bergin at 283-1729.
✔ St. James Lutheran Church will hold a chili supper from 4-7 p.m. The menu will include chili, hot dogs, desserts and drinks. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
✔ The Eagles Club will hold a free soup supper at 5:30 p.m. and after the Halloween Parade.
✔ The Vandalia Lions Club's annual Halloween Parade will be held at 7 p.m., following the traditional parade route of east on Gallatin Street from Seventh Street to Third Street.
✔ TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20  p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Donna Morell at 423-2916.

Friday, October 29
✔ A country music dance will be held at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St., Patoka. "Charlie's Jam" will perform. Admission is by donation.

Saturday, October 30
✔ Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447 will hold its 79th annual pancake and sausage breakfast from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. The public is invited.
✔ Trick-or-treating for children through sixth-grade age in Vandalia is from 6-8 p.m.; A "safe" trick-or-treating will also be held  at Brookstone Estates from 6-8 p.m.

Sunday, October 31
✔ A fried chicken and pork loin dinner will be held at the American Legion Community Center in Farina, with serving starting at 11 a.m. The menu will include a choice of fried chicken or pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, salad, home-baked bread, dessert, coffee and tea. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under the age of 12. Carry-outs will be available. Proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the center.
✔ A country music dance will be held from 3-6 p.m. at the The Corn Crib in Shobonier. "Broken Arrow" will perform. Admission is $5.
✔ Community trunk-or-treating will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Family Worship Center, 1803 Janett Ave., Vandalia. Those attending are asked to dress in costume. Food, games, a puppet show and prizes will be provided. For more information, call 283-0700.

Monday, November 1
✔ The Vandalia City Council's personnel, finance and insurance committee will hold a work session at 5 p.m. at city hall to review and discuss the status of the 2010-11 fiscal year budget and upcoming tax levy.
✔ The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Tuesday, November 2
ELECTION DAY
✔ Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a lapsit story time at 10 a.m. Stories, songs and fingerplays will be offered by the staff.
✔ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
✔ A Caregiver Connection seminar, "What is dementia" will be held from 3-4 p.m. at Brookstone Estates, 1607 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. Refreshments will be provided. A caregiver adviser will be available, by appointment only, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia; call 1-888-560-8805, ext. 1062 to make an appointment.
✔ Rainbow Reflections, the local grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia.
✔ The Vandalia Women of the Moose will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
✔ A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St. "The Prospectors" will perform. Admission is $5 per person, and a potluck will be held.

Wednesday, November 3
✔ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.
✔ The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
✔ The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency will meet at 7 p.m. in the EMA headquarters, located in the basement of the Fayette County Jail.
