Thursday, December 9

? TOPS IL 2490 will meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is from 9-9:30 a.m. For more information, contact Dovie Heaton-Bergin at 283-1729.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20  p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Donna Morell at 423-2916.

Friday, December 10

? A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St., Patoka. "Charlie's Jam" will perform. Admission is by donation.
Saturday, December 11

? Brookstone Estates, located at 1607 W. Fillmore St. in Vandalia, will offer a Brookstone Market from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The market will offer crafts, baked goods and a wide variety of products from name-brand companies.
? Members of Cub Scout Pack 315 of Vandalia will be collecting bags for Scouting for Food, beginning at 9 a.m. Residents are asked to have their bags of non-perishable food items outside by their front door. The food collected will be given to Fayette County Caring & Sharing.
? The VFW Ladies Auxiliary of the Old Capital Post 3862 will be participating in the Wreath Across America program. The organization will be putting wreaths on the graves of veterans in area cemeteries, starting at about 10 a.m.
? The Vandalia Statehouse Christmas Open House will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The first 100 families signing the register will receive a special holiday ornament.
? The Vandalia Elementary School's Honor Chorus will present its holiday program at 7 p.m. in the Vandalia Elementary School gym. The performance is free and open to the public.
Sunday, December 12

? The Fayette County Coon Club will hold a buy, sell and trade day at 10 a.m. To get to the event, go south of Brownstown to Ill. Route 185 and then west to the first road south, or on Ill. Route 185 to the U.S. Route 40/Ill. Route 185 junction, then follow signs.
? The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary at Old Capitol Post 3862 will hold a Christmas party for children at 2 p.m. at the post home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.
? A country music dance will be held from 3-6 p.m. at The Corn Crib in Shobonier. "The Gold Nuggets" will perform. Admission is $5.
Monday, December 13

? The Vandalia Lions Club will meet at Days Inn. The executive committee meets at 5:15 p.m., and the regular club meeting is at 6 p.m.
? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1-6 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Hall on U.S. Route 40 in St. Elmo.
? The Vandalia City Council will meet in special session at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Tuesday, December 14

? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a lapsit story time at 6 p.m. Stories, songs and fingerplays will be offered by the staff.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Home and Community Education Board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office, 118 N. Sixth St., Vandalia.
? Rainbow Reflections, the local grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia.
