Friday, January 7

? A Civil War Era Fashion Show will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, at the Mother of Dolors Parish Center, 705 W. St. Clair St., Vandalia. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. Models for the fashion show are still needed; those wishing to act as models, or to get more information about the show, can contact Connie Bolyard at 283-4206, Brian Garner at 283-2800 or Kati Long at 317-7179.
Saturday, January 8

? A country music dance and potluck is held from 7-10 p.m. every Saturday at 202 W. Madison St. in Ramsey (the former Baptist Church). Admission is $5. For more information, contact Hugh Craig at 381-3139.
Sunday, January 9

? A pancake breakfast to raise funds for the youth group at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Sunday at the church's Parish Center, located at Seventh and St. Clair streets. The funds will be used for the youth group's trip to Washington, D.C. , for the National March for Life.
? A benefit for Clifford Ray, a long-time city employee and 23-year member of the Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department, will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. The benefit will include a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, live auction and 50/50 tickets.
? The Fayette County Coon Club will hold a buy, sell and trade day at 10 a.m. To get to the event, go south of Brownstown to Ill. Route 185 and then west to the first road south, or on Ill. Route 185 to the U.S. Route 40/Ill. Route 185 junction, then follow signs.
? A dance will be held at The Corn Crib in Shobonier from 3-6 p.m. "Larry Eyman and the Country Club Band" will perform. Admission is $5.
Monday, January 10

? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-6 p.m. at the Golden Years Building at First and Division streets in Brownstown. All donors will receive an Elvis-themed rock and roll T-shirt and will become eligible for a all-expenses paid trips to Las Vegas, Nev., and Memphis, Tenn.
? The Vandalia Lions Club will meet at Days Inn. The executive board meets at 5:15 p.m., and the regular club meeting is at 6 p.m.
? A Fayette County Relay for Life kickoff meeting will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Church of God located northwest of Vandalia on Thrill Hill Road. This is an open house, with people able to come and go as they please. Pizza from Craig O's will be provided. All individuals interested in participating in this year's Relay for Life, set for June 4-5 at Rogier Park, are invited to attend.
Tuesday, January 11

? The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Home and Community Education Vandalia Day Unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office, 118 N. Sixth St., Vandalia.
? Rainbow Reflections, the local grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia.
? The Evans Public Library District Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the library.
? The Fayette County Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the large courtroom on the second floor of the Fayette County Courthouse.
Wednesday, January 12

? The Fayette County Interagency Council will meet from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fiesta Banquet Room at Los Amigos Restaurant on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia.
