Thursday, November 11

✔ TOPS IL 2490 will meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is from 9-9:30 a.m. For more information, contact Dovie Heaton-Bergin at 283-1729.
✔ Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia will hold a Veterans Day program at 1:30 p.m. at the Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St., Vandalia.
✔ TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20  p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Donna Morell at 423-2916.

Friday, November 12

✔ The Brownstown Branch Library Friends will hold a large book sale and country store on Friday and Saturday at the Golden Years Club building, located at First and Division streets. Hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Items to be available will include handmade pot holders and dishrags, and used purses.
✔ The annual Home Vendors Showcase will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Chruch, 118 E. Main St., Ramsey. Homemade hot chicken and noodles will be available for carry-out only from noon-6:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
✔ The Brownstown High School cheerleaders will sponsor a chili supper and Spirit Night, The chili supper is from 5-6:30 p.m., and the cost is $5 per person, with children age 3 and under eating free of charge. Spirit Night is at 7 p.m. in the BHS gym. Admission is $1.
✔ The Lincoln Victory Ball Committee will host a musical program, "The Songs of the Civil War – Lincoln and Liberty, Too," at 7 p.m. at Mother of Dolors Parish Hall, located at Seventh and St. Clair streets in Vandalia. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
✔ A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St., Patoka. "Charlie's Jam" will perform. Admission is by donation.
Saturday, November 13

✔ The Illinois State Police will have its firing range in Effingham open to the public from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. to allow hunters to sight in and test-fire their shotguns in preparation of the upcoming hunting season.
✔ The Mulberry Grove School District's music program will hold Relay for Music, a district fundraiser, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Mulberry Grove High School. In addition to the walking relay, the team event will offer other activities, including hillbilly golf, bean bag toss, karaoke contest and face-painting. The fee is $15 per team. The public is invited to participate. Teams may register in advance at the school or on Saturday.
✔ The Belleville Gear Jammers Antique Car Club will hold a car show from 1-3 p.m. on the Vandalia City Hall parking lot.
✔ The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary at Old Capitol Post No. 3862 of Vandalia will hold a chili cook-off at 2 p.m. at the post home. There is a sign-up sheet, and entry fee is $10, to be paid at registration. Entries will be open until noon on Nov. 13.
✔ A chicken and beer dance will be held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. Serving is from 5-7 p.m., and a dance is from 8 p.m.-midnight. Admission is $10 per person. Nashville singer/songwriter Jordan Carter will perform. The event will include a 50/50 drawing, and raffles and give-aways throughout the evening. The public is invited.
Sunday, November 14

✔ The Fayette County Coon Club will hold a buy, sell and trade day at 10 a.m. To get to the event, go south of Brownstown to Ill. Route 185 and then west to the first road south, or on Ill. Route 185 to the U.S. Route 40/Ill. Route 185 junction, then follow signs.
✔ St. Mary's Catholic Church, located on U.S. Route 40 in St. Elmo, will hold its annual fall dinner. Serving is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and the menu will include a choice of turkey or roast beef with all of the trimmings and homemade desserts. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under; preschoolers may eat for free. Carry-outs will be available by calling 829-3908. A 50/50 drawing will be held.
✔ The Fayette County Health Department will hold its annual community memorial service from 1-4 p.m. at First Church of God, 301 Thrill Hill Road, Vandalia. Individuals may drop photos of loved ones off at the hospice office or call 283-7262 for more information.
✔ A dance will be held at the Corn Crib in Shobonier from 3-6 p.m."Broken Arrow 2" will perform. Admission is $5.

Monday, November 15

✔ The Vandalia Women of the Moose will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge.
✔ The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Old Capitol Post No. 3862 will meet at 7 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.
✔ The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Tuesday, November 16

✔ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
✔ The Fayette County Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Health Department, 509 W. Edwards St., Vandalia.
✔ Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a lapsit storytime at 6 p.m. Stories, songs and finger plays will be offered by the staff.
✔ Rainbow Reflections, the local grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia.
✔ OUR PLACE Youth Center, located at 507 W. Gallatin St. in Vandalia, will hold a craft class for ages 8-17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sharla Stewart will lead the class.
✔ The Vandalia Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at the district's administration center.
✔ A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center at 210 W. Bond St. "Gold Nuggets" will perform. Admission is $5, and a potluck will be held.

✔ The Fayette County Health Department will hold a flu clinic from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the FCHD office, 509 W. Edwards St., Vandalia. The cost is $35 or Medicare Part B. State employees and those on Public Aid will be billed. The cost for a child's flu shot or mist is $35, Public Aid or Kid Care.
Saturday, November 20

✔ The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary will hold a craft bazaar at the hospital from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
