✔ A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond St. Admission is by donation.
Saturday, September 18

✔ The Downtown Vandalia Merchants Co-op will hold a rummage sale in downtown Vandalia from 7 a.m.-noon., with some vendors operating into the afternoon.
✔ The ninth annual Kids Safe-T Expo will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus on West Fillmore Street in Vandalia. In the event of rain, the event will be held at the new Family YMCA of Fayette County facility on Rock Island Avenue.

Sunday, September 19
✔ The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will hold a drawing for three youth to hunt deer Oct. 9-10 at the Coffeen Lake SFWA-Upland Management Area.To be eligible, the youth's name, mailing address and contact number must be printed on a 3-inch-by-5-inch card and received at the site office by Saturday.
✔ The first in a series of three programs offered by the Fayette County Museum will be held at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church. Kathryn M. Harris of Springfield will present "The Life of Harriet Tubman, American Abolitionist. Tickets for the series, $30 each, are available at the museum.
✔ A dance will be held from 3-6 p.m. at The Corn Crib in Shobonier. "Battle Creek" will perform. Admission is $5.

Monday, September 20

✔ The Vandalia Women of the Moose will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
✔ The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Tuesday, September 21

✔ A fundraiser for Dan Rutherford,the Republican candidate for state treasurer, will be held from noon-1 p.m. at The Depot, 107 S. Sixth St., Vandalia.
✔ The Vandalia Rotary Club will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from noon-6 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
✔ FAYCO Enterprises will hold an open house and ribbon-cutting for its Images program at the new FAYCO facility located at 1114 W. Jefferson St., Vandalia. The open house will run from 2-6 p.m., and the ribbo-cutting ceremony is at 4 p.m.
✔ OUR PLACE Youth Center, located at 507 W. Gallatin St. in Vandalia, will hold an arts and crats class for children ages 8-17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sharla Stewart is the instructor for the class.
✔ A country music dance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center. "Gold Nuggets" will perform. Admission is $5, and a potluck will be held.
✔ The Vandalia Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. in the district's administration center.
Wednesday, September 22

✔ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.

✔ The Vandalia Community High School Homecoming parade will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Friday, September 24

✔ The Brownstown Sports Boosters will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Brownstown Elementary School cafeteria. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children age 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased from student athletes or cheerleaders, at the high school or at the door.
✔ The Jump for Joel organization will hold a spaghetti dinner from 6-8 p.m. at First Church of God in St. Elmo. The dinner is by donation only. Bailey Jones of Vandalia will provide entertainment, and a silent auction will be held.
Saturday, September 25

✔ The second annual Jump for Joel marathon will be held. Registration in the Pinnacle Foods parking lot begins at 8 a.m., and the marathon begins at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $40.
✔ The Vandalia Main Street Program will hold its Corn Day festival in downtown Vandalia.
