Ryan M. Jones of Ramsey received his doctorate degree in philosophy at the University of Illinois commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 11, which was also his birthday.
Those attending the ceremonies included his parents, Janice and Jerry Jones of Ramsey; aunt and uncle, Denise and Fred Schnarre of Belleville; and friends, Laura Dippold of Effingham, Ryan Tokorek of Champaign and Juval Racelis of Tempe, Ariz.
After the ceremonies, a graduation party with a Cuban band was held at Tokorek’s home.
Jones will be working at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., this fall.
Pensacola Christian College
Hannah Joy Carruthers of Ramsey has earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with a concentration in early childhood education, from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Fla.
Carruthers, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Carruthers of Ramsey, was among the 654 students to receive degrees at commencement ceremonies on May 8. By earning at least a B average, she was named to the dean’s list.
Christopher James Maske of St. Peter was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
The son of James and Mary Maske, he is majoring in mechanical engineering.
To be on the dean’s list, students must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
