Deanna R. Lester graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Dec. 14 with a master’s degree in nursing, with a specialization as a family nurse practitioner.

Lester has accepted a position with Dr. Christina Midkiff and Dr. Markel Owens in obstetrics and gynecology as a nurse practitioner in Maryville.
The daughter of Andy and Jenny Lester of Vandalia, she is a 2005 graduate of Vandalia Community High School and a 2009 graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

EIU
The Eastern Illinois University Dr. Fred and Sara Jane Preston Award in Nursing Scholarship Award has been presented to Sheryl Sue Radloff of Beecher City.
This award, established by Dr. Fred and Sara Jane Preston, is administered through the EIU Foundation and presented to a full- or part-time EIU student pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing degree.
The recipient shall maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to continue pursuit of a career in a nursing field.  The recipient must also write an essay on their career ambitions and provide two faculty references.
Radloff, who earlier earned a bachelor’s degree from EIU in 1998 and an associate’s degree in nursing from Lake Land College in Mattoon in 2006, currently works as a registered nurse at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Effingham. She previously worked as a registered nurse at both Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County and St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Radloff and her husband, Allen, have two sons – Wesley and A.J.
She is the daughter of Arthur and Margie Sidwell of Brownstown and is a 1994 graduate of Brownstown High School.
The EIU Foundation, with an endowment exceeding $57.1 million, was established in 1953 and annually distributes more than 500 scholarships and awards to EIU students and faculty. All scholarships and awards are privately funded and held in trust by the foundation.
