Clift named baseball MVP of EIC

Patoka senior Johnnie Clift has been selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Egyptian-Illini Conference.

Clift, the second straight Warrior to take the honor, was dominating as a pitcher during the EIC season, going 3-1 with a 1.03 earned-run average in 27 innings.

He struck out 34, while walking just four, and allowed four earned runs on 18 hits.

At the plate, he hit .286 during conference games, but had a .417 on-base percentage and scored four times. He drove in five runs.

Other area players named all-conference included: Levi Maxey (Brownstown/St. Elmo), Jacob Behrends (BSE), Seth Allen (Patoka), Tristan Wesselman (Ramsey), Tylor Knisley (Ramsey), Dalton Parks (BSE) and Ryan Miller (Patoka).

Honorable mention recipients were: Derek Childress (Mulberry Grove), John Houston (Patoka) and Brady Reiss (Ramsey).
