Classic Bass Fishing Tournament (Oct. 23-24)

The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club held a Classic Bass Fishing Tournament on Vandalia Lake on Oct. 23 and 24. The winners were: Mike Grejtak, first place, with 16.62 pounds; Travis Gould, second place, with 13.17 pounds; and Lonnie Gerdes, third place, with 13.11 pounds. The first-day big bass winner was Owens Karnes Jr. with a 3.90-pound catch, and the second-day winner was Ronnie Higgs with a 6.39-pound catch. Fifteen boats entered the tournament, which lasted for eight hours each day. The club will begin its 2011 tournament schedule on April 9.
