City will ask Graham for building

-A A +A
By Rich Bauer, Managing Editor

Vandalia officials are hoping that after it ceases operations at its local plant, Graham Packaging will give the facilities to the city.
After meeting in closed session for about 35 minutes on Monday, the city council voted to have Mayor Rick Gottman send a letter to Graham officials, telling them that the city would be interested in receiving the facilities as a donation.
Gottman has said that this would be an alternative to selling the building for scrap, and that the city could use it as part of its efforts to lure another industry to the building.
