After discussing the possibility with two local men for several years, the Vandalia City Council approved on Tuesday an agreement with those partners for a third water source for the city.
In a 7-1 vote, the council OK’d a one-year agreement with Kaskaskia Springs Water Co. through which Walt Barenfanger and Jeff Beckman will provide the city with water from an underground acquifer.
The agreement calls for the partners to give the city up to 150,000 gallons a day, at a rate of at least 100 gallons per minute, from two wells drilled in the Thrill Hill area.
