City OKs levy, to look at making more cuts

-A A +A
By Rich Bauer, Managing Editor

As expected, the Vandalia City Council approved on Monday a new tax levy that’s 10 percent higher than the last tax extension.
And as it did so, one alderman pointed out to the sizeable crowd present for Monday’s meeting that the city is not depending solely on more tax dollars to solve its budget deficit issues.
The council approved the levy with a 10-percent increase a week after agreeing at a special meeting to have City Attorney Jack Johnston draft such an ordinance.
