Saying that they understand how enforcement of the state smoking ban can impact their businesses, city officials told liquor license holders that they have no choice but to enforce that law.
About 30 people, including bar owners and representatives of private clubs, attended a Monday afternoon meeting during which Mayor Rick Gottman and Police Chief Larry Eason explained that the city would begin enforcing a new city law on Aug. 1.
Gottman said he called the license holders together for a meeting because, “I wanted everyone to hear the same message.”
