City to consider beer garden request

The Vandalia City Council is scheduled to act Monday on a request for a beer garden during a special event in the downtown business district this fall.
The request has been submitted by a group of downtown merchants who are planning a car, truck and cycle show along Gallatin Street on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The council last week approved the closure of Gallatin Street from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on that day, and they also heard from some of the event organizers.
