City awards seven TIF grants

The Vandalia City Council approved seven requests for TIF (Tax Increment Financing) funds on Monday, with one of those requests drawing considerable discussion.

The council approved a $17,400 grant for Arthur Young Inc., which plans to demolish the buildings to the west of its dealership and also remodel its building at 122 W. Gallatin St.

After the demolition work, the dealership will use that property to display vehicles. The total project estimate is just under $50,000.
