 Three-day revival set at New Bethel

A three-day revival is planned for Sept. 21-23 at New Bethel Baptist Church northwest of Ramsey.
Preaching during the revival will be David Keyes, an evangelist from Paducah, Ky., who formerly lived in Fillmore.
Evening services will be held at 7 p.m. each night, and a basket dinner homecoming event will be held on Sunday.

Crown Point revival starts this Sunday

A revival featuring several area pastors will be held at Crown Point Church from Sunday, Sept. 16, through Thursday, Sept. 20.
Scheduled to preach are:
• Sunday, Sept. 16, 6 p.m. – The Rev. John Glennon, Parkview Free Methodist Church.
• Monday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. – The Rev. Roger Grimmett, First United Methodist Church.
• Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. – The Rev. Robert Francisco, First Christian Church.
• Wednesday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m. – The Rev. Bruce Sasse, Columbus Baptist Church.
• Thursday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. – The Rev. Tom Farris, First Church of God.
The church is located seven miles south of Vandalia on Carlyle Road.

Free picnic this Saturday at Crown Point

Crown Point Church will hold its annual free picnic this Saturday, from 5-7 p.m. in a tent near the church. The event is open to all residents of Vandalia and the surrounding area.
The menu for the meal includes fish, pork burgers, hot dogs, French fries, slaw and dessert.
Also included on the agenda are games and prizes, as well as music by Mitch Pullen of Wyatt, Mo., at 7 p.m.

Archery clinic Sept. 29 at Bethel Baptist
 
An archery clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Bethel Baptist Church.
The clinic, sponsored by the Nimrod Squad, includes archery games, prizes and lunch. The cost is $5 per person, and all ages are invited.
The church is located seven miles northwest of Vandalia on Ill. Route 185.

Lesters to appear in Mulberry Grove

The Lester Family of St. Louis will present a concert this Friday at 7 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Mulberry Grove.
With a family history of nearly 90 years in the gospel music business, the Lester Family now features members of the third and fourth generations. They started out singing on street corners in St. Louis and hosting gospel concerts in the old Kingsland Theater.
There is no admission fee for the concert, but an offering will be taken.
The Rev. Randy Whitehead, pastor of the host church, also will be singing as part of the program. For more information, call the church at 326-8238.

Lutheran women to meet in St. Peter

The 2012 Altamont Zone Fall Rally of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (Central Illinois District) will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter. The event will be held in the school gymnasium associated with the church.
This year’s theme is “Fill My Cup, Lord,” which is taken from Psalm 16:11 and Acts 2:28. Speaker for the evening will be the Rev. Samuel Janssen, who currently is the pastor at Good Shepherd LCMS in Rochester. His presentation will be on the Malagasy Lutheran Church, which is the fastest-growing Lutheran church in the world.
Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., with a catered meal at 6 p.m. Following the meal, opening devotions will be presented by the Rev. William Emrick of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Altamont Zone president, Amy Meseke, will conduct the business meeting. Zone vice president, Annie Guerrettaz will present a Christian life program. Also planned are a Bible study and the election of a new zone president.
Other guests scheduled to attend are Central Illinois District president Pam Spilker of Edinburg and CID counselor the Rev. Steven Becker of Strasburg.
An offering will be taken, with the proceeds to be divided  between The Lighthouse Pregnancy Center in Vandalia and the area food pantry.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is a service organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, which proclaims the saving faith of Jesus Christ. The Central Illinois District is funding the following projects: Student Aid for Church Workers; Food for the Children; Trinity Lutheran Church of Danville’s Gospel Outreach to Muslims and Others in Central Illinois; New Mission Church building (Faith Lutheran in Monticello); Ministry to Native Alaskan Children; Veterans of the Cross; Latvian VBS translation; Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool in El Paso; and Equipping God’s Servants  (providing computers for Bible translators). These projects are supported by funds totaling $56,250.

Fall schedule set at Parkview

Parkview Free Methodist Church has announced its new fall schedule.
The Sunday schedule now includes Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., worship service at 10:30 a.m., and senior high youth group from 6:30-8 p.m.
The Wednesday schedule includes Bible Blitz (grades K-4) from 6:30-8 p.m.; junior high youth group (grades 5-8) from 6:30-8 p.m.; and separate Bible studies for men and women from 7-8 p.m.
The church also will be holding a nine-week Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University on Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m., beginning on Sept. 20.
