Life Chain rally to be held Saturday

A Life Chain rally will be held this Sunday from 2-3:30 p.m. at the corner of Kennedy  Boulevard and Gallatin Street in Vandalia.
Organizers say that the rally will be a "peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals standing for prayer for our nation and for an end to abortion."
Only official Life Chain signs will be used during the event, and will be made available to participants.

Road run event to be held Saturday

The youth group at St. Elmo Christian Church will hold a three-in-one road run event this Saturday. The fundraiser is open to motorcycles, Jeeps and antique vehicles.
Registration is at 11 a.m., the ride begins at noon and it concludes at about 4:30 p.m. The ride is about 115 miles long and includes four stops.
Cost to participate is $15 for each driver and $10 for each passenger age 16 and older. It includes the ride, a marble draw, supper (sloppy Joe's, chips, drink and dessert)  and live music.
Those not wanting to ride may participate in the meal ($5 per person) and music activities. The meal will be held at Deken Park in St. Elmo at 5 p.m., with the music to follow.

Fusion 3D youth event is Oct. 26-27

Family Worship Center in Vandalia will hold a youth conference called Fusion 3D on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, at the church.
The event – which includes music, dramas, food and prizes – will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

FourGiven Quartet to perform Oct. 13

The FourGiven Quartet will perform at Happy Hollow Farms' Pumpkin Patch in St. Elmo on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m.

Augsburg Lutheran to meet Saturday  

Immanuel Lutheran Augsburg Church will gather for a traditional worship service this Saturday evening, beginning at 6 p.m.
The church is located on the St. Peter blacktop, four miles east of U.S. Route 51, at the intersection of 900N and 1300E.

Cowden church buys land to build

Catch The Fire Church in Cowden recently purchased property across from Cowden-Herrick High School in Cowden.
That site will be the future home of a 300-seat sanctuary for the non-denominational church, which was begun by the Rev. Kyle Blackerby and his wife, Heather, last fall.
Until the church is built, the congregation is meeting in the Cowden Community Center. Services are at 9:30 a.m.

Fall Funfest set at Kaskaskia Church

Kaskaskia Church will hold a Fall Funfest on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the church.
Food, drinks and activities run from 1-4 p.m. and feature a chili cookoff, a four-mile run (or a two-mile walk), a guest speaker (Matt Renaud) at 5 p.m. and a contemporary Christian band (Sweet Water) at 5:30.
The church is eight miles north of St. Elmo to Wright's Corner and then two miles west. For information, call 367-4927.
